Wine produced right in Curaçao

Once the project is well off the ground, it will be possible to sip at a glass of wine while sitting on the terrace of the Curaçao Winery, located at the country house close to Hato Airport. Earlier this year, the company bought the empty manor at Hato from Curaçao Airport Holding to set up a vineyard, a wine terrace and an adjoining bed and breakfast. They plan to offer tours and wine tasting. Hermien Visscher and Marc Oldeman will run the winery and their intention is to provide snack pairings with their house wine. Hermien’s brother Roelof, who is the owner of Neerlands Winery in Holland, founded the Curaçao Winery. Soon, during happy hour, they will start serving homemade wines to guests. The low rainfall makes the construction of the vineyards no easy task, so they have invented their own irrigation system.
